Thanks to the partnership and collaboration of local associations and groups Sampsons Farm Country Hotel can offer you a stay with us that includes a variety of country pursuits including pheasant shooting, rough shooting, Clay pigeon shooting, fishing, game fishing, reservoir fishing, course fishing, mountain bike cycling, off-road and on-road cycling and horse riding (tuition available).
Game fishing on the Lower Teign at Sampsons Farm
Sampsons Farm being positioned on the banks of the Lower Teign offers the ideal location for game fishing on a naturally fast flowing river coming down from the hills of dartmoor.
The catch possibilities include salmon, sea trout and brown trout. A fantastic opportunity to test your game fishing skills on one of Devon's most underrated game fishing rivers. Day tickets are available on request when booking.

From 2013 we will be able to offer the services of a qualified coach who can assist you on your game fishing skills or general advice on the local reservoirs close by.

Pheasant shooting on the Nurston Valleys Estate
Nurston Vallies Estate is set in a 2000 acre idyllic location set in the heart of the Devonshire countryside, with steep woods & valleys offering some of the best high quailty pheasant & partridge.
The shoot is based just of the back of Dartmoor providing some of the best steep vallies that Devon can offer, the moors runs around 2 sides of the shoot and works as a natural barrier which produces endless amounts of woodcock in the drives as well as pheasant and partridge.
All gun pegs are set in the bottom of the valleys so that the pheasants and partridge are pushed from one hill topside of the valley across to the other so there is no dipping. The drives are mixed with woodland borderd with covercrops or just large covercrops which is all positioned at the sumit of the valleys the birds at the lowest are 30 yards up plus. The shot ratio is in the bracket of 3:1 to 8:1 depending on the guns on the day.
